Senior Copywriter

Position Summary:

MedThink Communications is in need of a fun, creative, collaborative, and passionate person to fill the shoes of a senior copywriter. We're looking for an experienced copywriter to take a leadership role in writing and concept creation for print and digital projects.

Position Requirements:

You should have

  • At least 5 years of copywriting experience at a pharmaceutical advertising agency
  • A stunning book showcasing your experience with writing and concepting for the launch of pharmaceutical products and diagnostic and medical devices
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in communications, science, marketing, or a related field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Deeper understanding of technical aspects of design production
    (details, grids, charts, and graphs for example)
  • Conceptual creativity: ability to think in abstract terms; can make connections between unrelated notions; can formulate innovative ideas where others can not; seen as original and value-added in brainstorming sessions
  • Understanding and implementing direction: can understand creative direction based on objectives and executes creative work effectively. Communicates workload appropriately based on skill sets and talents; communicates well with others on workload issues & needs, the progress of work, and results
  • Industry application: picks up on technical things quickly; is good at learning new industry, company, product, and/or technical knowledge developments of the client’s business as well as the agency business; has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment
  • Experience/proficiency with the Macintosh operating system, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Acrobat), and Microsoft Office. Web design experience is helpful (Dreamweaver, Flash)
  • Resourceful with Internet

Position Responsibilities:

Demonstrates behavior expected of a professional member of the organization, including but not limited to:

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to create the most effective presentation of the material
  • Read, analyze, ask questions, and become knowledgeable about the technical aspects of each product
  • Organize workload and exercise efficient time-management
  • Availability to work the hours required for appropriate completion of projects
  • Willingness to learn effective presentation skills
  • Meet multiple schedule deadlines on time
  • Provide peer and subordinate feedback on creative product to ensure a high level of effectiveness
  • Understand marketing and medical regulatory issues in regards to correct/allowable copy usage
  • Consider laws governing copy such as registered and trademarked symbols, country of origin, and material construction
  • Ensure and be able to demonstrate accuracy of all claims made in writing
    • Read and maintain a library of current reference materials
    • Review and format copy according to AMA/client/agency style
  • Understand and work effectively with the agency’s traffic and production systems
  • Assist coworkers as needed
  • Perform various clerical duties as needed
  • Must be PC proficient
  • Keep ACD/C informed of project development when ACD/C is not there or available
