ACD Copywriting

Position Summary:

The ACD Copywriting is responsible for the overall supervision of the agency's creative product. The ACD interfaces between the client, account services and the creative department. The ACD is responsible for taking strategic marketing plans and interpreting them into "big ideas." The ACD copywriting assigns all creative writing projects within the creative staff. The ACD approves all creative work before presentation to the client and internal teams.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in communications, science, marketing, or related field of study
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in marketing, advertising and working in an advertising agency. At least 5 of those years must be in pharmaceutical advertising
  • Highly responsible, collaborative and self motivated

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills that fit brand strategy, and the ability to evaluate work of self and others
  • Experience working with healthcare and pharmaceutical marketing, print or television

Position Responsibilities:

  • Directs the creative product at the agency and strives for excellence in everything from concept to completion of every project on schedule.
  • Works closely with account services to solve marketing problems through smart, well-designed advertising and collateral materials that help sell product, and maintain good image for clients and agency.
  • Provides concepts for projects/campaigns to meet approved strategic marketing objectives.
  • Researches clients' products/services/image to ensure ability to write accurate, on-target copy/concepts for assigned projects.
  • Works to ensure copy/concepts serve the purpose of selling the client's product/service/image first and foremost, according to the strategic creative plan.
  • Manages the writing responsibilities of the creative department.
  • Attends all creative input meetings
  • Sells creative internally and to clients at the creative director's or account team's request
  • Makes recommendations to the creative director for creative positions and freelance services
  • Represents the agency at functions of creative/professional/civic organizations.

Participates in professional growth and development:

  • Attends Company sponsored in-services and/or continuing education
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations as necessary

Participates in other activities:

  • Performs other job duties as assigned
  • Cross trains in other positions as requested
