Account Supervisor - Digital
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports To: Group Account Director
Department: Promotional Services
Supervises: AE
Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of the AS is to lead development, execution, and management of digital strategies and solutions for client needs. While the primary focus is on digital solutions, the AS must possess a broader base of knowledge of marketing fundamentals and strategy specific to the pharmaceutical industry. The AS develops strong and effective working relationships at several levels within the client's organization. He/She is ultimately responsible for client satisfaction with agency output. The AS is responsible for ongoing client satisfaction and is central to the development of additional business opportunities by building client relationships, providing strategic input and ideas, establishing and monitoring budgets, ensuring adherence to timelines, identifying and enlisting resources, and ensuring the quality and timeliness of the final deliverable product. He/She is responsible for supervising and managing the account team and their resources. Provide thought leadership, strategic, tactical, analytic, and user insights direction on digital marketing initiatives. Help clients see value in aligning business strategy to a digital marketing strategy. Educate and consult with clients from an organizational, technical, and program perspective.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor degree (minimum), preferably in the marketing, communications, or health sciences, field
- 5-7 years of pharmaceutical/healthcare and/or agency experience; 1-2 years management experience preferred
- 1-3 years relevant experience within a digital communications agency environment
- Strong technical understanding of Web site design and development process
- Strategic understanding of both established and emerging digital and mobile technology
- Successful track record of delivering digital programs and cross-channel integrated marketing efforts that are the results of digital strategy
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical/healthcare and agency industry
- Thorough understanding of marketing, communications planning, and branding
- Understands the science behind the disease and brand (or knowledge of relevant healthcare area) in order to contribute at more meaningful level
- A deep understanding of all digital channels and an understanding of how they work in conjunction with offline channels
- Ability to translate trends, technologies, and metrics into conversational English
- Extensive experience working with creative or technical development of digital marketing solutions, technology, and emerging media in an agency environment
- Superior oral and written communications skills
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to manage numerous projects, requests, employees, and responsibilities
- Ability to act as strategic partner to increase client business using effective communication skills to manage ongoing client relationships
- Ability to monitor competitor and industry developments
- Ability to handle account team training, supervision, and development
- Demonstrates leadership, superior organization, and efficiency
- Ability to drive and motivate a team
- Ability to supervise, manage, and report on account financials
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Position Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates behavior expected of a professional member of the organization
- Cultivates and builds solid relationships with clients
- Develops strategic brand and business (market/brand assessments, strategic & tactical marketing) plans
- Serves as lead digital strategist on all client business
- Represents agency team at client meetings
- Routinely suggests new and relevant initiatives to clients
- Works with AD to develop and present new proposals to clients
- Plans and prioritizes account team work plan and delegates responsibilities
- Ensures that principles of efficiency, economy, and quality are utilized in all client work
- Determines manpower needs of account group for client
- Oversees budgeting process
- Reviews initial and revised job-level budgets and reviews appropriate job-level tracking reports
- Collaborates with AD/VP/Partner to prepare annual client fee budget and to ensure budgets are updated as necessary
- Assists with day-to-day account problem solving
- Supervises AE projects
- Initiates, attends, and participates in all meetings in which important strategies and plans are discussed
- Responsible for income and profitability of account
- Leads development of client quarterly reviews and account planning process
- Leads development of annual client brand review (for fee clients)
- Ensures client is pleased with agency services, and, if not, identifies problems early
- Periodically reviews client's organization with a view towards identifying business needs
- Strives within the agency to achieve accuracy and creative excellence
- Approves monthly billing with AD/Accounting
- Oversees fiscal management of assigned accounts
- Drives account development and tracks its status
- Final point of quality control of all projects prior to client presentation
- Reviews and approves creative brief prior to it going to client
- Ensures creative and scientific output is on strategy, on message, and clearly exceeds client's expectations
- Ensures output meets client's graphic and copy standards
- Recruits and hires JAE/AE
- Trains and supervises JAE/AE
- Identifies and provides developmental opportunities for JAE/AE
- Conducts AE/SAE annual and midterm performance reviews
- Manages, develops, and trains account team members and is instrumental in maintaining staffing efficiencies
- Understands the expertise of account team members and utilizes those resources responsibly to ensure high quality and time efficiency
- Ensures all members of the team work together smoothly and effectively, providing learning opportunities along the way
- Willing to travel (~5%-15%)
- Willing to teach/train others
- Willing to work extra hours to meet impending deadlines
